Mystery Bounty – A New Era of Poker Tournaments

Mystery Bounty is a relatively new tournament format that combines the classic Bounty or “knockout” format with a special twist.

In a classic Bounty tournament, a player receives a reward of equal value for every other player they eliminate from the tournament, from the beginning to the end.

Unlike the classic Bounty format, the first phase of a Mystery Bounty tournament plays like a regular Re-entry tournament. This means you don’t receive any reward for eliminating other players during this initial phase.

Only when the tournament reaches the ITM (“in the money”) phase does the prize distribution by placement begin, along with the drawing of Mystery Bounty envelopes. At that point, you receive a specific reward for each player you eliminate.

What does this look like in practice? Let’s say you’re in a tournament where the top 10 places receive a payout. There are 10 players left, and you eliminate someone.

The eliminated player receives the payout for 10th place, and you earn the right to draw an envelope containing a Mystery Bounty prize amount. This continues until the end of the tournament. One envelope per eliminated player, regardless of placement.

All envelopes are identical and sealed, with only the amounts inside differing. The tournament organizer determines the prize amounts. Some envelopes may contain amounts much greater than the buy-in, while others may be smaller. Luck plays a key role in which envelope you choose.

Good luck, from
